Hello! It's the perfect time of year for kayakers, hikers, bikers, and waterfall chasers! And we are trying to squeeze in all the outdoor activities we can. WATERFALLS: Right now is the best time of the year for chasing waterfalls! My go-to book is Arkansas Waterfalls by Tim Ernst. It gives details of how to find 200+ waterfalls, via driving and/or hiking. It's an amazing resource! BIKING: Our version of biking is done on a Harley. Last weekend we hit up the Steel Horse Bike Rally with a side stop at the United States Marshal Museum in Fort Smith. If you are in the area and have never visited, I highly recommend a stop at this incredible museum! We will be looking for some motorcycle poker runs (benefiting good causes) to participate in as well! (message me if you have suggestions of events that benefit something that is important to you and we will check it out!) KAYAKING: We have been on the lake this season, but haven't ventured onto the rivers yet. The rainy and stormy season adds an element of challenge when planning a kayaking trip. We are waiting for the weather to calm and warm a bit (and get too hot for hiking) before we hit up the Buffalo River and my local favorite- The Illinois River. I have a couple of eagle's nests that I check on each year that should have some babies in them at this point! HIKING: The star of the show right now is HIKING! With the rainfall, most waterfalls are flowing well and beckoning the hikers to them. I finally accomplished my local bucket list hike on the most challenging trail in Arkansas: The Eye of the Needle. It was PERFECT and full of waterfalls. Check out the hike below! On the CalendarMay 10- an outdoor concert! (Brooks + Dunn at the AMP) May 11- expanding our horizon with a visit to Crystal Bridges Museum for an outdoor-themed exhibit May 12- Mother's Day! (maybe a sunrise hike at Whitaker Point if I can convince a preteen to do that with me) May 19- My graduation from the Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists Program (such a fun learning experience!) “ “The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.” — Oprah Winfrey Hello! We are well into November and the year is coming to an end. But that doesn't mean the adventures have to end. Winter is an amazing time for hiking! Why? No bugs, no people, and unobstructed views! Lace-up those hiking boots and take off to your favorite outlooks! In Arkansas, there are still some colorful leaves in the trees. But that will soon be gone, leaving bare trees and beautiful views of...
“ "True life is lived when tiny changes occur." — Leo Tolstoy Hello! Well, it's been a minute. Life has changed and shifted my path, resulting in new life adventures. Losing my job of almost a decade was a blow at first. But then... I viewed this as an opportunity. I saw this as life changing my direction. It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind that determines which way we will go. -Jim Rohn The new: I got my therapist license in 2 new states (heeeey there Oklahoma and...
“ "Change is painful, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don't belong." — Mandy Hale Hello! Change is the word for this season of my life. I recently got the news that my beloved job of almost 9 years will not be available starting next month. At first, this was devastating. But then, I thought of all the possibilities for the next season of my life. And I'm excited! Of course, the adventures shall continue, and maybe even GROW! What's Next? For the first time in...
